For 63 years our family had operated The Dining Car in Philadelphia, a 24 hour, 7 day a week diner/restaurant and bakery. We have a true scratch kitchen where Chef Larry Thum creates all of our signature dishes. Creamed Chipped Beef, Chicken Croquettes, Crepes Florentine and French Onion Soup are only a few of the dishes that have been famously featured on numerous Television shows, including Diner’s, Drive-in’s and Dive’s, Newspapers articles and cookbooks. Our bakery team has created scrumptious breads, like Apple, Cinnamon Raisin, Jewish Apple, Orange Crunch and Pound Cake that make for the best French Toast around. We are also famous for our devil’s food chocolate fudge cake and let’s not forget our eponymous pie, Apple Walnut! This mouthwatering dessert is made with sweet apples folded inside of cream cheese filling and topped with English walnuts rolled in brown sugar and cinnamon. It is the pie that built a café!
All this has lead people to ask “when will you open a restaurant in our area?” Well, the answer to that question is now. It is our pleasure to bring to Broomall, The Apple Walnut Café, where we are combining our fantastic menu, excellent staff and dedication to service, to the people of Delaware County.
